No more cookbooks from the library!

I checked out several books on baking and while reading them have been instantly overcome with a desire to make cookies. An hour later the odors of cinnamon and carmelized sugar waft out the kitchen door. In the past week I have made oatmeal raisin, chocolate chip, pink cupcakes, birthday cake, and two loaves of bread. Then in a moment of weakness, I picked up a raspberry pie at Kroger. The thing weighs 2 pounds and I am the only one in the house who will eat it. In spite of running three times this week I have gained weight.

My new resolution: No more reading cookbooks. Instead I will check out gardening magazines that feature new varieties of lettuce.

I did sign up for several 5K road races next month so I can't quit.

It's so hard to stick to stuff.
Four things that I have struggled with balancing in my life over the past years and still have not gotten a grip on...
1. not spending too much time on-line...first e-mail, now blogs! :\
2. Drinking less coffee/soda
3. Eating healthy (it doesn't help that it is much less costly to eat not so healthy! :) )
4. Having a meek and quiet spirit. Sadly, far too often my disposition is directly related to the condition of our house. Messy house= grouchy mama!

It's fun reading a blog from a person I acutally know in person! Since I am a major home body and don't drive this probably is the next best way to get to know you better! :)

Oh, and btw I forgot to add that if the baking monster won't leave you (after all that is what the fall/winter months are all about!) I'd be happy to eat some of those goodies! :) I love the warm, cozy scents that fill the house when Shayna bakes, but its alot better for my waist line if we just light a yankee candle!! :)

Good for you on the 5K's! I've at least gotten back on the treadmill, but VERY slow!

I have to avoid the Food Network channel or I end up wanting to make really bad things, too.

Anon is right, why on earth does it cost less to eat junk? I guess everything has it's price and ppl know people will pay for health and fitness. I guess the price goes down in proportion to the amount of preservatives add! LOL

My 5K theme song is borrowed from Dori on Nemo, "Just keep running, just keep running..."
